description Modesto Reservoir Regional Park (originally named Dallas-Warner Reservoir) is located at 18143 Reservoir Road which is about seven (7) miles east of the town of Waterford off Hwy 132. The reservoir was completed in 1915 by Modesto Irrigation District. This regional park offers 3,240 acres of land and 2,800 acres of reservoir for recreation and camping. In addition to providing water for irrigation, the park offers camping, swimming, boating, fishing, picnic areas, archery range, and a sewage disposal station. The facility includes approximately 150 campsites with hook-up amenities and other camping areas with limited amenities. The facility includes restrooms, picnic shelter, barbeques, picnic tables, archery range, and an electric radio control glider airplane field. In partnership with the MODESTO RADIO CONTROL CLUB, a radio control electric glider airplane field now exists near the west boat ramp. The MODESTO RADIO CONTROL CLUB holds competitions, includingdemolition derbies on wings and thermal duration contests, in which the goal is to keep a glider in the air for a designated period of time and land in a target area. The MODESTO RADIO CONTROL CLUB offers monthly gatherings and special events throughout the year. The facility and the opportunity to fly are open to the public. The YAHI BOWMEN ARCHERY CLUB currently operates and maintains of the reservoir's archery range. YAHI BOWMEN hold monthly and during the summer, weekly shoots that are open to the public. All are always welcome as club members look forward to guests and some friendly competition. YAHI BOWMEN promotes family and youth participation with open arms of encouragement and hosts a variety of specialty shoots throughout the year. More information can be found at: http://www.stancounty.com/parks/archery.shtm Stanislaus County Fish and Wildlife Committee and local hatcheries often restock the fish population at the reservoir with the traditional rainbow trout, red-ear sunfish, large mouth bass, channel catfish, and blue gill. We have a great variety of wildlife here at the reservoir. You may see a number of different birds and mammals. The Reservoir holds numerous events at the reservoir throughout the year. Please check out our event calendar for the most current events. Keeping Modesto Reservoir Clean To keep the Reservoir's drinking water as pure as possible, the State of California has set forth guidelines by which the County and Modesto Irrigation District staff must abide by. For instance, there are no pets or animals allowed at this lake. Camping is limited to 50 feet away from the high water mark. As a preventive measure for gas and oil spills, no fuel containers are allowed in the park. (Gas sales are available during the summer season on Saturdays and Sundays. Please check with the Reservoir for specific times.) No fish cleaning station is available; fish cleaning is not allowed onsite. It is up to all of us who use the reservoir to care for the reservoir water and not pollute it. All of these restrictions will help the treatment plant better provide us with safer and cleaner drinking water.
